Graphic Design + Web Development Portfolio

Hi, I'm Matt Terry. Welcome to my site. I'm a Freelance Drupal Developer in Brighton UK. In celebration of the imminent release of Drupal 8 and the news of the Backdrop CMS fork of drupal I thought I'd join the rebellion and update the old druplicon for 2023 and beyond.

For a little background on this take a look at Revise the Druplicon logo for 2013 and beyond

Trampa Landboard Wheel: Blender Cycles Render

Here's a Blender model I made and textured, including all the UV mapping and texturing.

The tyre uses a geometry displacement for the tread and writing on the walls.

Not 100% finished but pretty happy with how Blender Cycles rendered it.

Matt Terry: Blender Cycles Displacement Maps

Been learning some more about Blender Cycles Displacement maps today.

Added some new textures to the 3d matt terry logo I made a while back.

Also used the improved Bevel Edges feature to make the geometry a bit better.

iPhone 5 Concept by Matt Terry

Here's a a quick concept I made for an iPhone 5. I built it with Blender and rendered it with the new Blender render engine called Cycles.

The idea wasn't to make a crazy futuristic iPhone but to make a realistic one.

There are a few few changes from the iPhone 4. The screen is larger, the body is slightly thinner but the same width and height. The front face is still glass but the back is all aluminium and takes some design direction from the Macbook Pro and recent iPad.

SSD icon by Matt Terry

Recently I installed an SSD on my MBP. It was easily the best computer upgrade I've ever made and now my laptop runs at least twice as fast.

Boot time is maybe 10 seconds, Photoshop runs like a dream and my localhost server absolutely flys, which makes developing drupal websites even quicker.

Since the technology is still in it's infancy there are a lot of contradicting and out dated blog posts out there, so I thought I'd share what I found out here.

Watch it on VIMEO

The main purpose of this Drupal marketing video is as a screensaver to use before presentations.

I'll update it with different animations to better represent each slogan.

Let me know if you want any different slogans.

It's rendered in Blender using the new Cycles render engine.

The Drupal typographic logo was refreshed a while ago with the drupal.org site rebranding.

I felt it was time to refresh the Drupal icon (the Druplicon). I didn't want to make any drastic changes, just tidy it up a bit. The shape of the eyes is a little different since the current logo isn't quite symmetrical in 3d.

What do you think? Tweet your thoughts with the hashtag #druplicon2012.

The icon is made in Blender, and rendered using the new Cycles renderer - I have a fun little animation too, but you'll have to wait to see that.

More fun with Blender and the Cycles render engine.

This time with my new icon logo for my personal 2012 rebrand, I figured if it's the end of the world then I might as well go out with a Bang.

This particular graphic is for the front of my new business card.

Did I mention I'll be a freelancer again soon :)

Interested in taking on some Blender, Unity, UX, graphics, Drupal etc jobs, looking for interesting projects with fun people.

Recently I've been getting back into Blender, the amazing Open Source 3d package.

Blender has an excellent in built Physics Simulator for creating realistic liquids, smoke, cloth and so on. It's pretty easy to set up some simple water effects but hard to master.

One of the most recent additions to blender is an incredible new Cycles Render Engine, with real time previews of your rendered scene and extremely realistic glass, shadows and caustics.
