Here are some graphics I did for an update to Toshiba's facebook page whilst working at White Hat Media. I produced the graphics in Photoshop and built the page in facebook FBML.

I also experimented with integrating drupal with facebook and there are some great things you can do.

SiteChecker is a powerful 'on site SEO' tool. The backend is all Java based (not built by me), it crawls a site in a similar fashion to googlebot, it indexes all the pages and parses the HTML to generate statistics on various SEO metrics.

I built a Drupal 7 front end which takes the vast amount of data stored by the Java app and attempts to display that data in a meaningful, user friendly way and provide the User Interface to set up new site scans, edit your settings, and so on.

Between 2002 and 2005 I worked full time at Wildcat in Brighton UK as an in-house Graphic Designer and Web Developer.
Wildcat is a great company. They've been in the body jewellery business since the beginning and have a cult following.
The main goal at wildcat was to make it look cool by any means possible.
In 2006 I worked as a freelancer on this webshop project, using osCommerce for the back end.

MAD Juggling final design

My friend Mark Douglass is an incredibly talented man. He's an excellent juggler, awesome poi spinner, great at adagio, hula hoop, staff.... the list goes on and on. I was delighted when he approached me to make his new website.

The Happy Endings are a band based in Melbourne Australia. Whilst I lived over there I worked on a few projects for the band, here's the CD cover I made for their new album.

This was a huge project that me and Joe Plant did together. The catalogue is 192 pages, full colour A4. Containing over 3000 separate products, each with 5 - 50 different specifications.

Joe took care of the graphics whilst I managed the project. I was responsible for grouping the products onto pages. Getting the content written, formatting all the text with In-Design, checking for errors, indexing the products and so on.

Whilst at wildcat I made adverts for tattoo magazines. A4 full colour ads that were printed in serveral magazines distributed worldwide. Here's a random selection.

A large part of my job was photographing jewellery and cutting out the backgrounds. Wildcat has thousands of products so it was a very labour intensive job, however I did learn how to use a Nikon D100 digital SLR.

Ikon Plugs were a new product that I spent a lot of time working on. They are a 6mm - 30mm diameter 'plug' which fits a stretched hole in your ear. The front on the plug has a paper graphic embedded into it with clear resin. I did all the graphics for this product range.

Similar to Ikon Plugs but with a much smaller image sunk into a navel bananabell as shown in the Red graphic below. Again, I did all the graphics for these and helped develop the product range. Both Ikon Plugs and Picturebells are very profitable ranges for wildcat and the images have been used to develop further products.

The brief for the logo was very specific. I was given several images of grape vines and asked to make the end half of it look robotic.
I made 3d models of vines and leaves using Z-brush and composited everything together with photoshop.
The first image below is the logo used on letter heads.
The second logo is used for slideshow presentations.
The last image shows 2 versions of the logo used in small situations, such as the business card.

Then I asked the client to take some photos of the vineyard to place the robot in. I was quite specific about the camera angles.

The trickiest part of this technique is matching the 3d perspective to the camera lens perspective.

Once i had matched the perspective I rendered the 3d model and then composited the render with the photograph using photoshop.

I've always had great fun with the 'branding' of spherculism. Here's the current site logo and the 'Sm' graphic, aka 'the Sphercular Om'

The DVD took about a year to produce, for six months it was my only job. The final product is 90 minutes long and contains 20 tracks. The music is mainly by a band called Bad Science from Brighton, UK and the video footage is tightly edited to the audio. This was a very big project and I had to learn many new video skills to complete it.

Below are two youtube videos of the DVD trailer and one of the tracks called 'Blink of an I'.

Soon after making the original spherculism site it became apparent that nobody had ever managed to simulate poi moves in a graphical way. There's many good juggling simulators, there's a cool one for diabolo but not one for poi. So I took it upon myself to make the first one, it's called poibot and I used Flash to build it.

I worked on some t-shirt designs for and, here are some of them:

Each year the Methodist Church of New Zealand hold a huge annual conference. The logistics of organising this event puts a large strain on the admin team each year. Whilst I was living in New Zealand I was called in to help them automate the registration with a web based form.

FlameOz Home Page
FlameOz Main Page

FlameOz are incredible fire and pyrotechnics performers. They needed to update their old site and approached me with the project.

This was a fun project to work on, I worked closely with Joe Plant - I designed the layouts and built the drupal site while he did an amazing job on the graphics.

Calvos Home Page
Calvos Main Page

Calvos is a beautiful stilt walking act.

This site is built alongside the FlameOz and Halo sites. It was a technically difficult drupal build which make good use of the Drupal Domain module.

There's a lot going on with these sites, videos that all play on iPhones an Androids, jQuery slideshows, jQuery tabs and so on.

Joe Plant did all the artwork for this one as well.

Halo Home Page
Halo Main Page

Halo is a high tech glow show and the third site in the group.

Wrote a surprising amount of custom Drupal Module code and built the custom Drupal Theme. The theming works nicely because I made a base theme which the 3 sites share, then each site has it's own theme which can override the base settings. The base theme is built on top of Drupal Zen theme. It worked out really well.

Ultragreen home page
Ultragreen Construction
Ultragreen Energy

Ultragreen approached us needing a new web presence. They were an interesting company to design for since they effectively have 5 different sectors within the main site. We helped them a lot with the overall architecture of the site, designed the look and feel, and ended up with a really easy to use, good looking site which performed well.
